At one time, Mel Gibson was among the biggest box office stars in the world. With The Passion of The Christ, he stepped into the director’s chair to huge success. Then, everything began to unravel for the superstar.

However, a messy divorce, drunk driving arrests, antisemitic comments, and a failure to pay child support amidst financial woes has turned Gibson into a spectacle of himself. Most would assume this means his career is finished forever. However, in the world of Hollywood, audiences love a good tale of redemption. To say that Gibson can make a comeback after the public learned of his disastrous personal life and demons is not too absurd of a sentiment. The public wants to remember the original image they have of their celebrity icons.

Two films that Gibson has in development are the Viking epic The Berserkers and Maccabees, a biblical picture. Gibson will also be playing the villain in the upcoming action film Machete Kills. It would seem playing character roles such as these and remaining in the director’s chair would be the dual future of Gibson’s career.

According to an article published in Forbes magazine, the once-legendary comedian known for his range received the unflattering title of most overpaid actor in 2012. The latest occurrence was the end of April when “The Simpsons” aired its 25th anniversary celebration. It showed a card expressing their love for Fox after all those years, but added the caveat, “This does not include Fox News”. Bill O’Reilly couldn’t resist responding by calling the remark a “cheap shot”. In a previous altercation, O’Reilly refers to members of the Simpson family as “pinheads”, a disparaging term frequently used by him to call out someone’s views.

Ms. Streisand got her start in entertaining by performing in several Off-Broadway plays in the early 1960s. Perry and Ackroyd have actually been rumored to be dating since April 2012. Reports quickly surfaced that the two had split. Now the rumor mill is turning and reporting that the two are back on.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Perry and Ackroyd can’t engage in a full on relationship right now since Perry is currently promoting her concert documentary Part of Me to be released on around 4th of July in 2D and 3D. Perry may just be on the rebound and Ackroyd may be a willing participant. The first criminal charges were levied earlier in the year.

In April of 2012, Kurt Mix, an engineer for BP, was the first person that had charges levied against him after the spill. He was charged with obstruction of justice in the first criminal charges issued after the calamitous 2010 oil spill that brought havoc to the Gulf of Mexico.

Mix allegedly deleted scores of text messages to supervisors that detailed the seriousness of the spill as it was occurring. The deletion of the text messages is the basis for the obstruction of justice charges.

The actual BP oil spill that comprised the Deepwater Horizon disaster was one of the worst in American history. It is believed that upwards of 5,000 barrels of oil per day flooded the ocean until the spill was contained. This created an ecological disaster that had not happened in decades with the closest similar disaster being the offshore Santa Barbara spill of the late 1960′s.

Negligence and omission are at the root of the law enforcement investigations into the matter.

Some Secret Service employees are disputing the charges, alleging that no rules were violated and that what is done during personal time is not relevant to positions within the agency. Those familiar with agency protocol have suggested that supervisors were aware that such off-duty cavorting was occurring but turned a blind eye to it.

Washington insiders have suggested that independent probes are necessary to determine how the agency has handled the revelations, as well as evaluate the well-being of the Secret Services wider culture. These probes would likely involve reviewing interview notes from nearly 200 agency employees who were in Columbia when the scandal broke in April 2012.
